Brent Spiner, the actor best known for his part as Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation, has written a…thing. Don’t get me wrong, it is a totally enjoyable…thing. But it definitely defies categories. Perhaps “whackadoodle” would be the best word to describe it. Imagine if Spiner had written a standard Hollywood memoir, then showed it to a few friends who suggested he zhuzh it up a bit. The friends then wrench his manuscript from his hands and start making it “better,” while poor Spiner bleats out famous names in the background. Erle Stanley Gardner (Perry Mason and Cool and Lam serieses) decides it needs to be a lot more noir. Edgar Cantero (Meddling Kids) decides it needs a weird, edgy vibe. And Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker’s Guide) just keeps adding funny bits to amuse himself. This is the thing they would have birthed. Enjoy?
