What says romance more than a heart shaped tub in your room? Well, probably lots. But if a champagne glass hot tub, jungle themed room, or a night in an old plane is your idea of a good time, the Bienerts have got a list of locations for you. Unsurprisingly, many of the themed hotels are in the midwest. Those of us who live here are well aware of all the interesting roadside attractions and other types of kitsch available here (check out my other blog, MadisonRoadTrip for lots of locations). We love us a fiberglass recreation of a cave, a dungeon or a castle. Many of these themed rooms are discreetly tucked away in the most normal-looking of hotels and motels. The gamut runs from silly themed rooms for families, to adult hotels that are very much only for adults. Great photos and lots of interviews with the owners, many who built the hotels and lovingly maintain them. Fun and kitschy!
